The SOF® Tourniquet Generation 4 is a true generational upgrade to the most effective tourniquet on the market and now comes with distinct improvements which makes it easier, more effective, and faster to apply:
The new Retention Clip virtually eliminates any risk of the windlass accidentally releasing after the tourniquet has been applied by locking the windlass in place. It makes the windlass easier to secure in one-handed applications, resulting in a faster application time, and doubles the security of the device in combination with the tri-ring during patient movements.
The redesigned and longer 5.5" Windlass eases the process of securing the windlass into the clip and tri-ring, increasing the effectiveness of the dual retention system. It still maintains its distinct conical ends while being machined from a single piece of aircraft-grade aluminum bar stock and anodized to minimize the product's signature in a tactical environment.
The Quick-Compression Buckle was added to the tourniquet during a previous update and makes for smoother buckle manipulation due to its rounded edges. This also allows for easier one-handed application and overall faster application time.
They even found a way to Reinforce the tourniquet material, making the SOF-T-W a SOLID contender.
The SOF-T-W is comprised of high-strength, lightweight alloy component and its design allows the tourniquet to easily slide over a limb or, if the limb is trapped, the tourniquet can be rapidly disconnected and reconnected around the limb without rethreading the strap via the use of the quick-disconnect buckle. This allows for easier training and better skill retention since once does not have to worry about looping or un-looping the device.. With one application method for both the arm and the leg, the Gen 4 is the easiest tourniquet to operate under stress, which can lead to reduced levels of blood loss and ultimately better quality patient care.
The Gen 4 still maintains its true 1.5" tourniquet strap, providing a wider compression pattern than most standard tourniquets or tourniquets with a 1" constricting band moving through a 1.5" sleeve. The wider compression pattern results in additional arterial compression and increased patient comfort.
Lastly, each tourniquet is shipped with two UV-resistant black rubber bands for mounting to your individual equipment.

Noteworthy Upgrades in the New SOF® Tourniquet:
1) Performance Compression Band
Completely redesigned webbing maximizes compression during the application process. At a true 1.5” width, the new performance material glides through the Rugged Buckle for quick, snag-free operation and minimizes loss of pressure over time after application.
2) Slack Indicator Wedge
Stitched into the Performance Compression Band below the windlass. The contrasting wedge offers a visual confirmation you have pulled all excess slack from the band. This is a critical step for proper tourniquet application and results in fewer windlass rotations required to reach occlusion.
3) Rugged Buckle
Engineered to remove excess slack in a single fluid motion. The buckle’s shape stabilizes the Performance Compression Band at any angle of engagement. The new Rugged Buckle is an advanced, lightweight composite design with superior strength over previous versions.
