We are set to wrap-up the 3rd Annual Emergency Medicine Wellness Week. The ALiEM Wellness Think Tank (WTT) collaborated with CanadiEM, ACEP, and the Canadian Association of Emergency Physicians (CAEP) to encourage participation from EDs across North America and around the world. Many of you shared your individual and group successes, which have helped to build collective wellness across the specialty. We are proud to present some of the Wellness Week highlights, and remain hugely motivated to participate in this important movement! When you’re done reading, be sure to welcome today’s newly matched EM interns with the hashtag #WelcometoEM!
Highlights from the 3rd Annual EM Wellness Week
EMRA Wellness Guide
Dr. Arlene Chung published the EMRA Wellness Guide! This on-the-go reference packs resources and evidence-based knowledge about wellness to help residents lay the groundwork for a fulfilling career in EM. It helps answer questions like, “How can I make my night shifts more bearable?” and “How do I recover and continue to take care of patients after a bad case?”

Recognizing Burnout
Burnout is an increasingly recognized burden of providing patient care in a high-stress, high-stakes environment. In one of the most candid posts this week, Dr. Gerhard Dashi reflected on his own wellness and recognizing burnout.
Stay Active and Healthy
Other EPs provided us with examples of how to stay healthy, fit, and active with team-based activities:
