Ventrículo pediátrico artificial presentado en Barcelona en el congreso mundial de cirugía cardiaca pediátrica!!
El dispositivo, llamado corazón artificial total, utiliza cámaras de bombeo sintéticas para reemplazar los ventrículos izquierdo y derecho enfermos y defectuosos del propio corazón del receptor.
El corazón artificial está diseñado para usarse temporalmente hasta que haya un corazón donado disponible, y los receptores deben permanecer en el hospital mientras se ajusta el corazón, en algunos casos hasta dos años y medio. El corazón artificial se usa solo en pacientes que tienen fallas en ambos ventrículos y permite que el 80% de ellos sobreviva el tiempo suficiente para recibir el corazón donado.

An artificial pediatric ventricle presented in Barcelona at the world congress of pediatric cardiac surgery!!
The device, called total artificial heart, uses synthetic pumping chambers to replace the diseased and failing left and right ventricles of the recipient’s own heart.
The artificial heart is designed to be used temporarily until a donated heart is available, and recipients have to remain in hospital while the heart is fitted, in some cases as long as two and a half years. The artificial heart is used only in patients who have both ventricles failing and enables 80% of them to survive long enough to receive the donated heart.
