One of my interests is medical simulation and the writing of simulation cases. I have already written two related posts: Case Writing and Story Board Writing. I believe that simulation is a wonderful modality to engage learners, teach critical EM concepts, and keep the patients safe.
One of the bigger hurdles to writing simulation cases is the actual writing of the case. It is a labor intensive and time consuming process. My goal in starting this new ALiEM series is to provide the readers with simulation cases that can be used at your discretion for education or evaluation of your learners.
Each post will include details regarding the case, a case synopsis, equipment necessary, etc. Each post will end with a flow diagram. Additionally, there will be a PDF with a far more detailed flow of the case that can be downloaded.
This will be a work in progress, so feel free to add your comments, suggestions, and criticisms.
My next goal will be to incorporate the EM Milestones (ABEM pdf document) as an evaluation component to the cases.
