K9-TECC (K9 Tactical Emergency Casualty Care) adapts TCCC principles to working dogs: immediate handler care at the point of injury is what carries the animal to definitive veterinary treatment.

▾Who Carries It

Law enforcement K9 units · Military working-dog teams · Search-and-rescue and detection handlers · Professional trainers and kennel staff working away from immediate veterinary support. The pouch mounts to the same vest, duty belt or pack the handler already carries, so canine supplies do not become a second bag left in the vehicle.

Scope note. This is a first-aid kit, not a veterinary trauma kit: it carries dressings, irrigation and antiseptics but no canine tourniquet, chest seal or hemostatic. Medications, including the included allergy tablets, should be given only on the direction of your veterinarian — canine dosing differs from human dosing and some common human medications are toxic to dogs. The included pet first-aid guide supports handlers who have not had formal canine-trauma training; it does not replace it.

Why is a dog muzzle included in the kit?

K9 Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (K9-TECC) guidelines specify that any injured or stressed working dog should be considered unpredictable and may bite — even its own handler. Pain, shock, and altered mental status from trauma can override trained obedience responses. Muzzling the dog before treatment protects the handler from injury and enables safe delivery of care. The included muzzle is a critical safety item, not just an accessory.

Yes. The Elite K9 First Aid Kit features MOLLE/PALS webbing attachment points for mounting to tactical vests, plate carriers, load-bearing equipment, or pack systems. What is the difference between the Elite K9 First Aid Kit and the Advanced version?

The Elite K9 First Aid Kit (standard) provides wound care essentials, antiseptics, a dog muzzle, cold pack, emergency blanket, and a pet first aid guide. The Elite K9 First Aid Kit – Advanced builds on this foundation by adding a TACMED K-9 Tourniquet for distal limb hemorrhage control, a Beacon Vented Chest Seal for penetrating thoracic wounds, and Z-Folded Compressed Gauze for packing deep wounds. Handlers in higher-risk tactical environments or those trained in canine trauma care should consider the Advanced kit.

Can the Elite K9 First Aid Kit be used on the handler as well as the dog?

The Elite K9 First Aid Kit is designed specifically for canine medical care and most of its contents — gauze sizes, conforming wraps, wound wash — can be used on either the dog or the handler. However, this kit does not include a tourniquet for human extremity hemorrhage control. Handlers should carry a separate human IFAK alongside this kit.
