What does 'Intermediate' mean in a bleeding control kit?

Intermediate adds a chest seal to the basic tourniquet + gauze + pressure dressing configuration. This allows treatment of penetrating chest wounds (sucking chest wounds / open pneumothorax) in addition to extremity hemorrhage.

Is the tourniquet in this kit CoTCCC-recommended?

Yes. Curaplex kits include a C-A-T® tourniquet — the CoTCCC-recommended standard for extremity hemorrhage control.

How does this compare to the Curaplex Advanced individual kit?

The Intermediate (MEDTAC0706) adds a chest seal to the basic load. The Advanced (MEDTAC0705) further adds CoTCCC-recommended hemostatic gauze (QuikClot Combat Gauze or equivalent) for superior wound packing capability in life-threatening hemorrhage.
