What is the HALO Bleed Control Pack? A compact bundle pairing two HALO Vented Chest Seals with an OLAES Modular Bandage — the vented chest seal the TCCC Guidelines call for, plus a pressure bandage for bleeding a dressing can control: limb wounds, and junctional wounds once they are packed. Bleeding inside the chest or abdomen cannot be stopped with pressure, and neither is ever packed.

- HALO Vented Chest Seals × 2 — vented chest seals, 8.35 × 6.06 in. each — one for the entry wound, one for an exit wound. The hydrogel-free center window goes over the hole; when pressure builds inside the chest, air lifts the cover layer and escapes through four vents, and the cover settles back when pressure drops. Medical Devices, Inc. states the seal adheres in damp, dry, sandy and hairy conditions and in the presence of blood; wipe and dry the skin first.
- OLAES Modular Bandage — elastic pressure bandage by TacMed Solutions with a non-adherent wound pad, 3 m of sterile packing gauze inside the pad, a transparent pressure cup that focuses pressure on the wound and comes out as a rigid eye shield, a plastic occlusive sheet and a securing clip.
Product Overview
The HALO Bleed Control Pack addresses two related chest-trauma priorities: sealing an open chest wound so air is not drawn in through the chest wall, and holding pressure on bleeding a dressing can control — a limb wound, or a groin, armpit or neck wound after it has been packed.
The HALO Vent pairs a scrim-reinforced hydrogel with an outer tape edge, two adhesion zones on one seal. Two seals cover an entry and an exit wound, or wounds on both sides of the chest — check the back and the armpits. A vented seal lowers the risk of a tension pneumothorax but does not remove it: keep watching the breathing, and if it gets harder, burp the seal by lifting an edge or remove it.
The OLAES carries much of the job inside it: gauze to pack a wound, a cup to focus pressure on it, a plastic sheet to cover a wound, and a rigid shield for an injured eye. A deep wound is packed first and pressure held — hemostatic gauze at least 3 minutes or its labeled time, plain gauze such as the OLAES's own at least 10 minutes — then the bandage goes over it to keep the pressure on.
