Lite Fighter™ Poleless Litter

Two pounds of ripstop nylon that rolls to about 12 × 5 in. and opens to an 18 × 72 in. casualty platform. Eight integrated handles put up to eight hands on the load, three straps hold the patient through lifts and grade changes, a hook-and-loop center opening lets you reassess without off-loading, and a 75g heat-reflective pad goes between the casualty and cold ground. A soft poleless litter is a lift-and-carry platform whose working limit depends as much on how many rescuers are on the handles and how the carry is run as on the fabric. Crew the carry adequately, secure all three straps before lifting, and spec a rated rigid platform if your call profile routinely includes large patients in plates or structural gear. If your agency requires a documented load rating for procurement or protocol, ask us before you order and we will pursue a written statement from the manufacturer.

Know what it is not. It provides no spinal motion restriction and is not a substitute for a long spine board, scoop or vacuum mattress. It is not rigging equipment: it has no rated attachment points and does not belong in a hoist or a rope system. It is built as a multi-rescuer carry platform rather than a solo drag — a soft litter conforms to terrain and transmits every rock into the patient when dragged, so if solo drag over ground is your primary use case, a rigid-base drag litter is the right platform. Ripstop nylon is a textile, so follow your organization's bloodborne pathogen and equipment decontamination policy for contaminated soft goods, including when an item must be removed from service rather than laundered.

CLINICAL RATIONALE

Why This Configuration

The litter you actually have on you is the one that matters. Rigid litters and folding stretchers win on structure and lose on carriage — they get left in the vehicle, and the vehicle is rarely where the patient is.

At 2 lb and roughly the packed volume of a rolled poncho liner, this litter can live on a pack, a plate carrier, or in a vehicle door pocket permanently. That shifts the decision at the point of injury from “can we get a litter to this patient” to “deploy the one already on your kit.”

The hook-and-loop center opening allows reassessment or intervention without transferring the patient off the platform — relevant on extended carries where status may change between the point of injury and the casualty collection point. The insulated center pad places a barrier between the patient and the ground, which is a consideration in cold, wet, or prolonged field care settings.

This is a soft, poleless platform. It is built for compactness and carriage, not for spinal immobilization or as a substitute for a rigid backboard or scoop stretcher where those are indicated.

How compact is it when rolled?

Roughly 12 × 5 in and 2 lb — comparable to a rolled poncho liner. It ships in a 14 × 6 × 6 in box. The included storage roll has integrated MOLLE and a plate-hanger attachment, so it can ride on a pack or plate carrier rather than taking up pack volume.

How many people are needed to carry a patient on it?

There are 8 carry handles, 4 per side, which supports a two-person or four-person carry. Four-person carry distributes load better and is easier to control over uneven terrain. This is a soft litter with no rigid frame, so it is not intended for single-responder drag — for that, the Foldable Drag Litter Stretcher (FDLS) has a rigid ABS base and a dedicated drag loop.

What is the load rating?

6:8 Medical Solutions does not publish a load rating for this model, and we will not state one we cannot substantiate. If your agency, protocol, or procurement specification requires a documented rating, use the Foldable Drag Litter Stretcher (FDLS) instead — it carries a manufacturer-published 300 lb rating.

What is the insulated center pad for?

It is a 75g heat-reflective insulated panel running down the center of the litter, placing a barrier between the patient and the ground. Ground contact is a significant conductive heat-loss pathway during prolonged field care, and the pad reduces that exposure during extended carries or while awaiting evacuation.

Can I access the patient without taking them off the litter?

Yes. The center section opens via hook-and-loop, allowing reassessment or intervention through the platform. On extended movement this avoids the risk and delay of transferring a patient off and back onto the litter.

How is this different from the Foldable Drag Litter Stretcher (FDLS)?

Different tools. The FDLS has a rigid ABS base, a dedicated drag loop for single-responder movement, a published 300 lb rating, and weighs 5.9 lb. This litter has no rigid base or drag loop, weighs 2 lb, rolls to a fraction of the volume, and adds an insulated center pad. Choose the FDLS when you need a rated, draggable platform staged in a vehicle or on a bag; choose this one when weight and packed volume decide whether a litter comes with you at all.
