A cut finger is the most ordinary bleeding injury there is, and one of the most annoying to control. A finger is round, small and always moving. A flat adhesive bandage lies across a curve, soaks through and slides off. Holding pressure works, but it takes your other hand, which leaves you one-handed at exactly the moment you need two.
POW Pressure On Wounds built its whole line around one idea: a rigid, raised pressure dome built into the dressing itself. Center the dome on the wound, wrap it, and the dome turns the wrap's tension into a focused point of downward force right where the bleeding is. POW calls it patented targeted compression. Battlefield bandages like the OLAES Modular Trauma Dressing from TacMed Solutions use a pressure cup for the same reason. POW is the first line we have seen that scales the principle down this far.
This is the smallest dressing in the POW range. The strip is narrow enough to wrap all the way around a finger, and the dome is sized for a finger wound. Once it is on, the pressure stays on and both hands are free again: to rinse a second cut, finish shutting down the machine, or drive to urgent care if the cut needs closing.
Pressure is force divided by area. A plain wrap spreads its tension around the whole finger, so the cut gets only a small share. A rigid dome under the same wrap funnels that tension onto the small area beneath it: more pressure on the cut, less squeeze on the rest of the finger.
POW's rule is that the dome must be larger than the wound, because pressure only helps where the dome lands. If the cut is longer than the dome, move up to the 2 × 5 in. Pressure Strip.
First-aid guidelines, including the 2024 American Heart Association and American Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid, start external bleeding control with direct pressure. A POW finger strip is direct pressure that stays on without you.
It belongs in the everyday first aid kit, one step above adhesive bandages, and in the kitchen drawer, the shop and the job box. It does not replace medical care. A fingertip amputation, a cut that will not stop after several minutes of firm pressure, or a finger that will not bend or feel normally afterward needs an emergency department.
POW markets the line for home and workplace first aid, military individual first aid kits, EMS, fire and tactical medical kits, and dialysis aftercare. On its own site, POW names Guardian Gear, Traumoto, The Medic Box, SEAL Wound Care and Jiffy Lube among its partners. The president of Najjar Lube Centers, a Jiffy Lube operator, wrote to POW recommending the bandage to other businesses that want to be better prepared when an employee gets hurt. In a service bay, a cut finger is a weekly event.
POW is a new product. As of October 2026, POW has not published clinical trial data on the dome design, and we will not pretend otherwise. What stands behind it is the physics above, the first-aid principle every guideline starts with (firm, sustained direct pressure), and the experience of the businesses and responders now carrying it. When independent data appears, it goes on this page.
