Chase Tactical states the helmet is tested to NIJ Standard 0106.01 at an accredited ballistic testing laboratory. NIJ's compliance program covers body armor, so no ballistic helmet from any manufacturer carries NIJ certification; testing to NIJ 0106.01 at an accredited laboratory is the standard of evidence in this category. The .357 SIG round sits outside the NIJ 0106.01 test series and comes from the manufacturer's own commissioned laboratory testing. Warranty is not service life: the five-year figure covers ballistic material.

Law enforcement patrol and tactical teams · Corrections emergency response teams (CERT) and civil-unrest response units — the manufacturer positions the standard cut specifically for these roles · Military personnel in the ACH form factor · Agencies that do not routinely run over-the-ear communications, which is the trade the standard cut makes.

The cut is the decision here. A standard cut keeps material over the temporal region that a high cut removes, so lateral coverage is greater; a high cut buys clearance for over-ear headsets and a lower profile. The Striker is the coverage side of that trade and still accommodates standard hearing-protection ear cups. The D3O seven-pad system addresses the other half of the problem — behind-armor blunt trauma — because a defeated round still transfers energy into the head.

Before you buy to a specification. Head protection is issued against a written policy, and the facts a policy rests on are the tested model, the standard edition, the test report and the replacement interval. The standard and edition here are NIJ 0106.01; the five-year warranty covers ballistic material and is not a service life. Size on the wearer, not on paper. Any helmet that has taken a ballistic or significant blunt impact comes out of service regardless of visible damage.

What is the difference between the Chase Tactical Striker ACH standard cut and the high-cut version?

The standard-cut ACH provides full lateral head coverage including the temporal region above the ears, offering broader ballistic protection. The high-cut version removes shell material at and above the ears to accommodate over-the-ear communications systems and hearing protection. For personnel who do not routinely use over-ear comms headsets, the standard cut provides superior coverage.

What protection level does the Chase Tactical Striker ACH provide?

The Striker ACH is tested to NIJ Standard 0106.01 Level IIIA, capable of stopping 9mm FMJ (1,400 ft/s), .357 Magnum JSP (1,395 ft/s), .44 Magnum SJHP (1,400 ft/s), and .357 SIG FMJ (1,470 ft/s).
