The TacMed™ Warm Zone Kit was designed specifically for this environment, providing multi-casualty treatment capability for medics operating under conditions of ongoing or recently neutralized threat.

How many casualties can the Warm Zone Kit treat?

With 2 SOF® tourniquets, 2 OLAES® bandages, 2 Beacon™ Chest Seals, 2 NPA airways, and 2 rolls of tape, the Warm Zone Kit provides complete initial treatment capability for two simultaneous critical casualties. Triage flagging and chem lights support the organization of additional casualties beyond the two fully stocked positions.

What does the triage flagging tape system include?

The triage flagging tape set includes four colors: black (expectant/deceased), yellow (delayed), red (immediate), and green (minor). This four-color system supports both SALT and START mass casualty triage protocols, allowing the medic to tag and communicate patient priority status to incoming responders.

Is the Warm Zone Kit modular?

Yes. The interior of the Warm Zone Bag is completely modular, allowing the user to rearrange supplies based on their specific role, anticipated patient population, and agency protocol. The adjustable drawbridge system also controls how far the front flap opens for optimized access.

Is the SOF Tourniquet in the Warm Zone Kit CoTCCC-recommended?

Yes. Both SOF® Tourniquets included in the Warm Zone Kit are CoTCCC-recommended for extremity hemorrhage control. The SOF-T by Tactical Medical Solutions is one of the CoTCCC-recommended windlass tourniquets alongside the NAR C-A-T®.

What is the Beacon™ Chest Seal and why is it included instead of a vented chest seal?

The Beacon™ Chest Seal by TacMed Solutions is an occlusive chest seal designed for penetrating thoracic wounds. It is included in the Warm Zone Kit as a field-expedient chest wound treatment. The kit includes 2× Beacon™ Chest Seals — one for each of the two casualty positions. For providers with a protocol specifying vented chest seals (e.g., HyFin Vent), the modular interior allows substitution of preferred components.

Can the Warm Zone Bag be worn on the body during movement?

Yes. The TacMed Warm Zone Bag is designed to be worn around the waist, slung over the shoulder for rapid movement, or attached to a panel via the MOLLE attaching straps. This flexibility allows a medic to carry the kit hands-free while moving quickly through a warm-zone environment to reach casualties. The 11" × 6" × 2" profile at 5.8 lbs is manageable for movement while maintaining a compact enough footprint for operational deployment.

How does 4-color triage tape support START and SALT protocols?

The included set includes four colors matching standard mass-casualty triage systems: red (immediate — life-threatening but survivable with intervention), yellow (delayed — serious but can wait), green (minor/walking wounded — delayed treatment), and black (expectant/deceased). Both the START and SALT triage protocols use this four-color designation system, making the tape compatible with virtually any U.S. mass-casualty triage protocol. Red chem lights (5 included) supplement the tape for low-light triage marking.

What does the adjustable drawbridge system do?

The adjustable drawbridge controls how far the front flap of the Warm Zone Bag opens. In a high-chaos mass-casualty environment, full-open allows rapid dump-and-access to all supplies. In organized triage operations, controlled partial-open allows the medic to access specific supplies without spilling the entire bag. The modular interior strapping also allows supply organization to be adjusted — for example, positioning chest seals at the front for fastest access when penetrating chest trauma is expected.
