CELOX Z-Fold uses standard CELOX chitosan granules (8g) and requires 3 minutes of compression. CELOX Rapid uses Chito-R activated chitosan (9g) and achieves hemostasis in 60 seconds. Both work independent of the clotting cascade.

How does chitosan clot blood?

Chitosan granules are positively charged and bond electrostatically to the negatively charged surfaces of red blood cells. The chitosan swells, forms a viscous gel, and physically seals the wound — a mechanical process that does not require clotting factors, platelets, or fibrin.

What is the shelf life of CELOX Z-Fold?

CELOX Z-Fold has a 3-year shelf life from the date of manufacture. Store at ambient temperature in dry conditions — no refrigeration required.

Can CELOX Z-Fold be used on patients taking anticoagulant medications?
