Does the Headrest Kit include a tourniquet or medical supplies?

No. The IFAK Velcro Pouch 2.0 – Headrest Kit is a pouch/mounting platform only. Tourniquet and medical supplies are not included. The adjustable shock cord at the bottom is designed to retain a separately purchased tourniquet. MED-TAC International offers C-A-T® Gen 7, SAM XT, and other CoTCCC-recommended tourniquets that can be staged in this pouch.

How does the headrest mounting work?

The kit includes adjustable straps that attach to the headrest posts of standard vehicle seats. The straps provide a stable, secure mount that resists vibration and movement during off-road or highway driving. This positions the medical kit at passenger height—accessible to any vehicle occupant, including those in the rear seat, without requiring access to a gear bag.

Can this pouch be used outside of a vehicle?

Yes. While the Headrest Kit's primary feature is its vehicle headrest mounting system, it is also compatible with hook-and-loop surfaces and MOLLE platforms using an adapter. This allows the pouch to be repositioned to a vest, pack, or other flat surface when needed away from the vehicle.

What is the external shock cord for?

The adjustable shock cord at the bottom of the pouch is specifically designed for tourniquet retention. It allows a tourniquet to be staged externally on the outside of the pouch—accessible for immediate one-handed self-application without opening the main compartment. This mirrors the TCCC principle of having a tourniquet immediately accessible without requiring compartment access.

What can be stored in the internal pouch?

The internal 8" × 7" × 2" pouch provides secondary storage for items like hemostatic gauze, emergency bandages, nitrile gloves, a permanent marker for tourniquet time notation, and other small trauma supplies. The clamshell main compartment opens flat for full access when needed.
