5.11 Tactical · 35 L EMS Backpack
Responder 48 EMS Backpack
A 35-litre, 900D TPU-coated pack built for the full EMS operational tempo. The main compartment opens as a full clamshell and five configurable dividers hold airway, monitoring, IV and medication supplies in fixed, repeatable positions. Closed-cell foam panels protect delicate devices, external straps carry a D-size cylinder, and the shell wipes down between patient contacts. Sold as the pack; medical supplies are not included.
35 L · 18.5″ × 13.25″ × 7″900D TPU-coated polyesterFull clamshell, 5 dividersExternal D-cylinder straps

Fixed divider positions are worth more than raw volume: a bag repacked a hundred times only stays fast if every item returns to the same slot.

What's Included

A carry platform sold without medical supplies, in two colorways — Black (56718-019) and Fire Red (56718-474) — identical in construction. Tap a section for what ships in the box, and for the compartment layout and carry detail.

VIEW ▾Layout, Carry & Dimensions — how it opens, organizes and wears
  • 18.5″ H × 13.25″ W × 7″ D; 35 litres / 2,135 cubic inches; 2.48 kg (approx. 5.5 lb) empty
  • Full clamshell main compartment opens completely flat, exposing all organized contents at once rather than through a partial opening
  • One vertical and four horizontal dividers reconfigure the compartment into fixed sections that survive repeated deployment and repacking
  • Closed-cell foam reinforcement protects glucometers, pulse oximeters, disposable CPAP units and similar devices during vehicle transport
  • 900D TPU-coated polyester shell resists abrasion and moisture; fully wipe-down friendly for rapid decontamination between patient contacts
  • External non-slip quick-release straps secure a D-size oxygen cylinder outside the pack, keeping the main compartment free
  • Padded adjustable shoulder straps and back panel for multi-level building responses and extended extrications
  • This is equipment, not a medical device — it holds no CoTCCC status of its own; that status belongs to the supplies loaded into it

MARCH = Massive hemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia/Head injury. The "48" in the model name refers to 5.11's 48-hour gear-carrying design intent, not to a capacity figure.

Who Carries It

EMS and paramedic crews as a primary ALS response pack where the clamshell and fixed dividers matter more than raw volume · Fire departments running medical response from an engine or rescue · Law enforcement medical elements carrying an organized medical pack alongside patrol equipment · Agencies integrating oxygen into the carry system via the external cylinder straps.

Build the divider layout to your own assessment sequence and then leave it alone. A common structure runs airway management at the top, cardiac and monitoring next, IV therapy third, medications fourth and trauma and hemorrhage control at the bottom — mirroring the order a crew actually works a patient, so the pack is searched by muscle memory rather than by reading. Medication and advanced-airway contents are governed by local formulary and scope of practice.
