Naval and Coast Guard vessels for man-overboard response · Marine and maritime special-operations units where International Orange is tactically inappropriate and Coyote Brown is not · Harbor patrol, port security and offshore industrial platforms that must recover a person from the water before a shore asset can arrive.

Water packaging of a conscious or semi-conscious patient is a trained crew skill, not an improvised one. The stated timeline assumes rehearsed deployment from a secured vessel; rehearse it on your own hull before you rely on the number.

▾Colors & Sizes

Color: Coyote Brown or International Orange. Coyote Brown is intended for maritime special-operations environments where a high-visibility orange platform is tactically inappropriate; International Orange is the conventional search-and-rescue finish. One system size — the color does not change the pack-out.

Buckle Options: Cobra Buckles or Steel Buckles. This selects the strap hardware on the rescue system. Cobra hardware is the quick-release option; steel is the conventional heavy-duty option. Both ship with the same component list above.

How fast can the Sked® Rapid Deployment System be deployed for water rescue?

The Sked® Rapid Deployment System can be in the water, fully inflated and ready to use in under 30 seconds. The user unzips the duffel bag, triggers the CO2 cartridges, pulls two straps, and drops the system into the water. An injured or incapacitated patient can then be packaged in the water in another 30 seconds, for a total rescue packaging time under one minute in trained hands.

How do the CO2 inflatable float logs work?

The SK-605/SK-606 CO2 Inflatable Float Logs are a pair of inflatable buoyancy tubes pre-rigged to the Sked® stretcher inside the duffel bag. When the user pulls the activation straps, CO2 cartridges discharge and inflate the float logs automatically — no manual inflation required. This fully automatic inflation is critical for rapid deployment, as manual inflation under time pressure creates rescue delays.

Is the Rapid Deployment System available in International Orange?

The SK-650 listed here uses a Coyote Brown configuration, appropriate for maritime special operations where conventional SAR orange would be tactically inappropriate. SKEDCO also offers the Rapid Deployment System in International Orange for civilian SAR, coast guard, and maritime rescue applications where high-visibility color is required. Contact MED-TAC International to inquire about orange variant availability.

I already own a Sked® Basic Rescue System. Can I upgrade it for water rescue?

Yes. SKEDCO offers a Rapid Deployment Conversion Kit that includes all the water rescue components (CO2 float logs, inflatable chest pad, ballast weight, extra long handles, sling and carabiner float, and carrying case) without the stretcher body. This allows agencies to convert an existing Sked® SK-200 or SK-200-OR into a full rapid deployment water rescue system without purchasing a complete SK-650.

Does the price of the Rapid Deployment System include shipping?

Yes. The SK-650 Sked® Rapid Deployment System is classified as a heavy bulky item and the listed price includes freight shipping within CONUS (Continental United States). The system ships as a large package via freight carrier. International or Alaska/Hawaii shipping will incur additional freight charges.
