In cadaveric bilateral testing, the JETT achieved simultaneous common femoral artery occlusion on both sides in as little as 10 seconds. By contrast, achieving bilateral coverage with single-site devices (such as the CRoC) requires sequential application of two separate units, which took 68 seconds in the same study. How does the JETT prevent losing pressure during patient transport?
The JETT includes a lanyard and toggle locking mechanism on each windlass axle. Once the compression pads are tightened to achieve hemorrhage control, the toggle is engaged to lock the windlass in position, preventing it from loosening due to vibration, bumps, or patient movement during casualty evacuation. This feature is critical in combat casualty care where patients are frequently transported over rough terrain in vehicles or aircraft before reaching surgical care, and loss of tourniquet pressure can be immediately life-threatening.
Can the JETT stabilize pelvic fractures?

Research from the University of Texas Health Science Center shows that the JETT's circumferential belt assembly provides meaningful pelvic compression and fracture stabilization — a significant additional benefit given that pelvic fractures frequently co-occur with proximal lower-extremity amputations and high-thigh blast injuries. The JETT compresses the pelvis circumferentially from behind the buttocks while the compression pads target the femoral vessels anteriorly, addressing both the hemorrhage and fracture instability components simultaneously.
Does the JETT fit all body types?
The JETT belt extends to 56.75 inches in overall length and fits waist circumferences up to 50 inches, accommodating most adult body types including individuals wearing body armor or additional gear layers. The individually adjustable compression pads can be positioned independently on each side, allowing for asymmetric body positioning or unilateral injury scenarios. For pediatric or very small adult patients, the belt can be shortened appropriately, and clinicians should verify pad positioning relative to femoral landmarks by palpation.
