The transfusion of fresh whole blood is the best option for the management of casualties with hemorrhagic shock. Blood transfusions have been used successfully in military operations and other austere conditions to resuscitate trauma patients suffering from shock due to hemorrhage.
The Low Titer O Whole Blood (LTOWB) Collection Set-V helps pre-screening to identify type O low titer donors in the operational forces and is the next evolution in far forward fresh whole blood resuscitation. This advancement simplifies the tasks related to fresh whole blood transfusions by reducing the steps, supplies and material, and the time required to perform this lifesaving procedure. The LTOWB Collection Set-V contains all the supplies needed to collect blood from a LTOWB donor and when paired with the LTOWB Administration Set-V to complete the field transfusion requirement.
