Pocket BVM — Compact

A single-patient-use adult bag-valve-mask that collapses into a rigid twist-top case 134 mm across and 63 mm tall. Deployed it is a full 1,600 mL bag with a transparent adult mask, patient valve and 2,600 mL oxygen reservoir. No pre-inflation, no assembly, and NSN 6515-01-590-8909 for government supply channels.

Is 1,600 mL the volume delivered to the patient?

No. 1,600 mL is the capacity of the resuscitator bag. Delivered stroke volume with a one-handed compression is 500-600 mL, which is the adult tidal volume range targeted by current resuscitation guidance. The 2,600 mL figure is the oxygen reservoir bag, not a delivered volume.

Does the smaller form factor mean weaker ventilation?

No. Deployed, it is a full-size 1,600 mL adult bag. The size reduction is achieved by collapsing the bag into the case for storage, not by shrinking the bag. Over-ventilation is a far more common field failure than under-delivery from an adequately sized bag, and it is a rate-and-technique problem, not a hardware problem.

Does it work with supplemental oxygen?

Yes. With the 2,600 mL reservoir bag attached and flow connected, manufacturer testing shows delivered oxygen concentration from 55% at 2 L/min to 100% at 8 L/min. This configuration does not ship with an oxygen supply line; the Pocket BVM with O2 Tubing packs a 2 m line inside the same case.

Can it be reused?

No. It is designed and labeled by the manufacturer for single-patient use. It can be refolded into the case for training repetitions, but a device used on a patient should not be returned to service.

Will it take a PEEP valve?

Yes. The 30 mm male expiratory connector accepts standard PEEP valves. The patient connector is 22 mm male outside / 15 mm female inside, per ANSI/ISO.

Is this device CoTCCC-recommended?

The Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care does not publish brand-specific recommendations for bag-valve-mask resuscitators the way it does for tourniquets and hemostatic dressings.
