It reads temperature data from thermistors built into the thermal tubing wall and dynamically adjusts how much energy it draws from the 44V lithium battery to maintain a precise output temperature of 100.4°F (38°C ± 2°C) at whatever flow rate the clinician is using. It also provides LED status indication for warmup progress and can have audible alerts disabled for tactical operations.
How does the QUANTUM Controller connect to the rest of the system?
The QUANTUM Controller connects via two cables — one to the QUANTUM Battery (35-0002) and one to the Thermal Transfusion Set (TTS-B or TIS). Critically, neither connection has a plug orientation requirement, meaning there is no wrong way to connect the cables. What tubing sets work with the QUANTUM Controller?
The QUANTUM Controller is compatible with two thermal tubing sets from North American Rescue: the Thermal Transfusion Set–Blood (TTS-B, item 35-0005), which is appropriate for whole blood, blood products, and IV solutions, and the Thermal Infusion Set (TIS, item 35-0004), which is for IV solutions only. Both sets incorporate heating elements and thermistors in the tubing walls that communicate with the controller. Standard IV tubing sets are not compatible with the QUANTUM Controller.
