evidence-based evaluation applies to two items: the TMT tourniquet and ChitoGauze®. The evidence-based list names no chest seal, decompression needle or point-pressure device, and no kit inherits the status of its components. The TCCC Guidelines call for a vented chest seal on an open chest wound.

▾Who Carries It

Combat Life Savers and squad trauma leads building or restocking a CLS bag · Platoon medics and corpsmen reconstituting after an exercise or an engagement · Advanced individual first aid responders who want the full CLS loadout in one sealed unit · TCCC instructors restocking course bags between iterations.

How it is used. The Combat Life Saver Resupply puts a full CLS loadout in one vacuum-sealed bag, organized by Safeguard Medical's RAMPART™ color-coded layout with icon identifiers, to build a CLS bag from scratch or restock one after use. Tourniquets go high and tight over clothing when the bleeding source cannot be seen or the scene is not safe, otherwise on bare skin 2–3 in. above the wound — never across a joint. ChitoGauze is packed into the wound and held with firm pressure for at least 3 minutes and until the bleeding stops; plain gauze needs at least 10 minutes. Never pack the chest or abdomen — an open chest wound gets a vented chest seal.

The DART needle is for providers trained and authorized to perform needle decompression under their protocol and medical direction.

What is the difference between a Combat Lifesaver bag and a medic's aid bag?

A Combat Lifesaver (CLS) bag is carried by a CoTCCC-trained non-medical soldier (typically at the squad level) for basic trauma interventions: hemorrhage control, airway management, and needle decompression. A medic's aid bag (like the RAMPART Medic Enhancement Set) is carried by an 18D or 68W and contains additional capability for IV/IO access, surgical airways, prolonged field care, and multi-casualty management. The RAMPART CLS Resupply Kit is designed specifically for the CLS-level kit.

Does the RAMPART Combat Lifesaver Resupply Kit include a tourniquet?

Yes. The RAMPART CLS Resupply Kit includes MARCH-aligned hemorrhage control components including TMT® tourniquet(s) as the primary extremity hemorrhage control device, consistent with the RAMPART MARCH color-coded system used in the primary CLS bag.
