What is the difference between the TacMed Vascular Access Kit and the Saline Lock Kit?

The Vascular Access Kit includes an IV administration set (15 drip/mL) enabling direct fluid infusion. The Saline Lock Kit provides access and lock only.

Does the TacMed Vascular Access Kit include IV fluids?

No. Fluid must be sourced separately.

What catheter gauge and length does the kit include?

Two 18-gauge x 1.25-inch IV catheters.

What securing methods are included?

Tegaderm transparent film dressing and Linebacker IV securing device.

Is the TacMed Vascular Access Kit appropriate for TCCC protocols?

Yes. Provides peripheral IV access per TCCC Tactical Field Care guidelines.

What IV fluid is recommended with the TacMed Vascular Access Kit?

The current TCCC guideline recommends Hextend (6% hetastarch in lactated Ringer's) or Lactated Ringer's for hypotensive hemorrhagic shock resuscitation, and normal saline for non-hemorrhagic indications.

How does the Linebacker IV securing device help in field conditions?

The Linebacker provides a mechanical secondary catheter anchor to prevent accidental dislodgement during casualty movement, extraction, or CASEVAC transport.

Can the TacMed Vascular Access Kit be used for IO access?

No. The kit is designed for peripheral IV access only. Intraosseous access requires a separate IO device not included in this kit.
