What ballistic threats does the VISM Level IIIA helmet stop?

The VISM Ballistic Helmet's Kevlar® shell is rated at NIJ Level IIIA and is capable of stopping 9mm and .44 Magnum rounds up to 1,400 FPS. Level IIIA is the highest soft ballistic rating and covers the majority of handgun calibers encountered in law enforcement and active shooter scenarios, including 9mm FMJ, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and .357 SIG. The helmet does not provide rifle-rated protection.

What sizes are available for the VISM Level IIIA helmet?

The VISM Ballistic Helmet is available in two sizes: Large (head circumference 22.0"–22.8" / 56–58 cm, weight 51.1 oz / 1.45 kg) and Extra Large (22.8"–23.6" / 58–60 cm, weight 54.6 oz / 1.55 kg). Both sizes feature the same fully adjustable four-point retention and integrated suspension system. Measure head circumference at the widest point above the ears and brow to select the appropriate size.

Does the VISM Level IIIA helmet come with a carry bag?

Yes. The VISM Ballistic Helmet includes a ballistic helmet carry bag for hygienic storage and transport between deployments. The carry bag also provides a staging location for vehicles, lockers, or equipment rooms. The included bag is a notable value addition at the VISM helmet's price point, as carry bags are typically sold separately with premium helmet options.

Is the VISM helmet suitable for Rescue Task Force programs?

Yes. The VISM Level IIIA helmet is specifically positioned as an accessible option for RTF programs that need to protect all team members within budget constraints. It provides genuine NIJ Level IIIA Kevlar® ballistic protection comparable to soft body armor. For RTF teams that cannot equip all personnel with premium helmets like the NAR SS-401, the VISM provides meaningful protection at a lower per-unit cost. Agencies should evaluate ballistic testing documentation before procurement.
