BurnTec Dressing

An FDA-cleared, CE-marked hydrogel burn dressing for thermal, chemical and electrical burns. The hydrogel is electron-beam cross-linked into a fabric-reinforced sheet rather than a loose gel, so it stays on the burn through movement instead of dripping off, cools for up to 24 hours, and lifts away without adhering to the wound. Eight sizes, from a 4x4 in. IFAK square to a 16x24 in. sheet.

Sizing. Match the sheet to the burn area rather than folding a large sheet onto a small burn — the small sizes exist for IFAK carry and the large sheets for torso and back coverage. Scope of practice. Applying a burn dressing is within the scope of a trained lay responder; assessing burn depth, total body surface area and the need for fluid resuscitation or airway management is not. Escalate per your protocol.

Its regulatory clearance covers first, second, and third-degree burn treatment from thermal, chemical, and electrical sources.

How long does BurnTec® provide cooling relief?

BurnTec® hydrogel dressings provide a cool, soothing effect for up to 24 hours following application. The stable-sheeting hydrogel structure maintains contact with the wound surface even during patient movement and transport, ensuring continuous pain relief and burn progression control unlike loose gel alternatives that can drip away from the wound.

What makes BurnTec® different from other burn dressings?

BurnTec® uses a unique stable-sheeting hydrogel structure reinforced with medical-quality non-woven fabric. This cross-linked polymer matrix (polyvinylpyrrolidone, polyethylene glycol, and agar) keeps the cooling gel anchored to the burn site rather than dripping off. The dressing is impermeable to bacteria while remaining permeable to water vapor and oxygen, traps wound secretion within the gel, and has non-stick properties that allow painless removal without damaging new tissue growth.

Can BurnTec® reduce scarring after a burn injury?

Immediate application of BurnTec® has been associated with a reduced risk of hypertrophic scars (raised, thick scarring following burn injuries).
