MARCH = Massive hemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia/Head injury. The R.A.T.S. is a functional tourniquet but it is not on the evidence-based standard-device list. If your protocol requires a evidence-based standard tourniquet, add a C-A-T, SAM XT or TMT and train on it — limb tourniquets go high and tight over clothing when the bleeding source can't be seen or there's no time (hasty), or on bare skin 2–3 in. above the wound once it is exposed (deliberate) — never across a joint.

The kit is designed primarily for BLS-to-early-ALS level responders: EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, medical preparedness professionals, and trained industrial first aid teams.
