Configuration Notice — Read Before Ordering

Part number 42-700 does not have Bluetooth. It does not pair with a phone or tablet, does not connect to the Masimo Professional Health or Masimo SafetyNet® app, and does not trend, store, export, or wirelessly share session data. All measurements are read directly off the device screen at the point of care.

MED-TAC does not stock or order the Bluetooth LE configurations of the MightySat Rx (Masimo P/N 9809, 9909, 9942, 9900). If wireless connectivity or app-based data capture is a requirement for your program, this is not the correct device — do not order it expecting to add that capability later. It cannot be enabled by firmware, accessory, or software.

Product Overview

Pulse oximetry is the working vital sign for oxygenation, and the accuracy gap between a drugstore fingertip unit and the Masimo MightySat™ Rx shows up exactly where it matters: a cold, wet, hypoperfused, or moving patient. The defining technology is Masimo SET® — Signal Extraction Technology using five parallel signal processing engines to pull a reading through motion and low perfusion conditions that defeat conventional oximeters. Consumer-grade units rely on simple averaging and drop out or post a false-high number during patient movement, vasoconstriction, or poor peripheral circulation. SET® is the same signal architecture deployed in ICU and OR bedside monitors, packaged into a 73-gram fingertip device that lives in a med ruck or a kit pocket.

Beyond SpO₂ and pulse rate, this configuration measures two additional parameters with real clinical utility. Perfusion Index (Pi) quantifies the ratio of pulsatile to non-pulsatile blood flow at the sensor site — a direct read on peripheral perfusion that tracks with vasoconstriction, shock state, and vasoactive medication effect. Pleth Variability Index (PVi®) measures respiratory-cycle variation in the plethysmographic signal and is used clinically as an index of fluid responsiveness. Signal IQ® sits under the pleth waveform and gives the provider a confidence indicator on the displayed value — a reading with poor signal quality is flagged as such rather than presented as clinical truth.

The rotating, adjustable high-resolution display with 150° viewing angle solves the practical problem of reading a fixed-orientation screen when the patient's hand is where it is, not where you want it — during extrication, transport, or an exam in a confined space. The flexible finger pad conforms to the digit and reduces external light and motion interference. Two AAA batteries deliver roughly 1,800 spot-checks and are field-replaceable with commodity cells, with no charging cradle, proprietary pack, or cable to lose.

Why the Non-Bluetooth Configuration

For most tactical, EMS, fire, and agency spot-check applications, the absence of a radio is a feature rather than a limitation. There is no wireless emission to manage, no pairing step under time pressure, no app dependency, no phone battery in the critical path, and no device that has to clear an agency IT or information-security review before it can be fielded. Departments operating under restricted-electronics policies, and units working in RF-disciplined environments, routinely specify the non-connected configuration for exactly these reasons. The clinical measurement is identical — Bluetooth changes what happens to the number after you read it, not the number itself.

The tradeoff is real and should be understood before purchase: without Bluetooth there is no automatic trending, no session history export, no CSV download, and no telehealth data sharing. Documentation is manual — the provider reads the display and records the value. If your program requires automated capture into a patient care report or a remote monitoring workflow, specify a connected device instead. MED-TAC does not carry the Bluetooth-equipped MightySat Rx configurations.
