Scope and authorization. Naloxone administration is governed by state law, standing orders and your agency’s policy, and by the training you have completed — not by the equipment. Naloxone reverses opioid effects temporarily and does not replace emergency medical care: Activate EMS, and be prepared for the possibility that repeat dosing or airway support is required.
