The Philips HeartStart FRx AED is a rugged, semi-automatic automated external defibrillator designed for BLS-trained responders in demanding environments. At 3.5 lbs with IP55 sealing, it withstands 500 lb crush loads, jetting water, and 4-foot drops onto concrete. Delivers a 150 J truncated exponential biphasic shock for adults; optional Infant/Child Key enables 50 J pediatric defibrillation. MIL-STD-810G vibration certified.

Product Overview
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) claims approximately 400,000 American lives annually — more than 1,000 people per day. Early defibrillation remains the single most effective intervention, with survival rates declining approximately 10% for every minute without treatment. The Philips HeartStart FRx AED is engineered to bridge the critical gap between cardiac arrest onset and advanced care in environments where a standard consumer AED would fail: military bases, law enforcement vehicles, industrial facilities, maritime platforms, and remote outdoor settings.
The FRx builds on the proven HS1 (OnSite) platform and adds a ruggedization package that meets or exceeds military environmental standards. Its IP55 enclosure resists water jets and dust ingress, while the structural frame withstands 500-pound crush loads and four-foot concrete drops — performance that standard consumer AEDs cannot match. MIL-STD-810G random vibration certification ensures reliability in vehicle-mounted and airborne applications.
Philips SMART Analysis technology continuously assesses heart rhythm and will not advise a shock unless a shockable rhythm is confirmed — even if the shock button is inadvertently pressed. Pre-connected SMART Pads II can be deployed without opening a separate pouch, saving critical seconds. The Quick Shock feature delivers therapy within approximately 8 seconds after the end of a CPR interval, minimizing the pre-shock pause that contributes to poor outcomes. An audible metronome and real-time voice prompts guide chest compression rate and depth throughout the rescue.
Pediatric Capability
The optional Infant/Child Key (item 989803139311, sold separately) converts the FRx for pediatric use — inserting the key automatically adjusts voice instructions and shock energy to 50 J nominal for patients under 25 kg (55 lbs) or under 8 years of age. This eliminates the need for a separate pediatric AED in mixed-population environments such as schools, recreation facilities, or family-oriented tactical operations.
