PRODUCT INFORMATION
North American Rescue · Fixed Range Medical Station
Range Trauma Kit (Hard Case)
A watertight hard case built to sit on a range for months and still work when the call comes. Every kit carries two orange C-A-T® tourniquets, a HyFin® Vent chest seal twin pack, two 6 in. ETD® pressure dressings, burn, eye and splint care and a full minor-injury load, sorted into labeled removable pouches so a responder pulls the pouch that matches the injury. Pick the case color — orange, red or yellow — and the hemorrhage level: QuikClot® Combat Gauze®, CELOX™ Gauze or Basic packing gauze.
3 case colors · 3 levels2 C-A-T® tourniquets in every kitWatertight hard case9.5 × 13.5 × 6 in. · 8 lb 12 oz

A carried kit gets checked because it gets handled. A fixed station kit gets forgotten — which is why the case matters more than the bag, and why the inspection log matters more than either.

Choose Your Level

Same case, same pouches and the same core load in every configuration. The level changes only what sits beside the tourniquets in the bleeding pouch. Color changes only the case.

with Combat Gauze 2× QuikClot® Combat Gauze® Z-fold + 2× NAR® S-Rolled Gauze 4 — 2× C-A-T®, 2× Combat Gauze® (the evidence-based hemostatic dressing of choice) 80-1907 / 80-1908 / 80-1909
with Celox Gauze 2× CELOX™ Gauze Z-fold, 3 in. × 5 ft + 2× NAR® S-Rolled Gauze 4 — 2× C-A-T®, 2× Celox™ Gauze (a TCCC alternative hemostatic) 80-1904 / 80-1905 / 80-1906
Basic 4× NAR® S-Rolled Gauze — plain packing gauze, no hemostatic agent 2 — 2× C-A-T® 80-1901 / 80-1902 / 80-1903

Combat Gauze® is kaolin-based and is the evidence-based hemostatic dressing of choice; Celox™ Gauze is chitosan-based and named in the TCCC Guidelines as an alternative. Either one belongs on a live-fire range, where the injury the kit exists for is a gunshot wound to the groin, armpit or neck that a tourniquet cannot reach. Basic suits a facility that already stages hemostatic dressings in another kit.

evidence-based evaluation is verified at the component level: the two C-A-T® tourniquets in every kit, plus the Combat Gauze® or Celox™ Gauze dressings in those levels. No kit inherits the status of its parts. Capacity is asymmetric: two tourniquets cover two limb bleeds, and the twin-pack chest seals cover the entry and exit wound on one casualty. This is a fixed station kit: inspect it monthly and after any use, check the dates on the hemostatic dressings, chest seals and eye wash, and restock the same day it is opened.

▾Who Carries It

Shooting ranges, as the fixed medical station on a shelf, a bracket or in a dedicated alcove · Law enforcement and military training facilities needing a kit that stays viable through humidity, solvents and temperature swings · Gun clubs and safety offices putting one durable, visible kit in a known location · High-throughput facilities where a kit is opened often and a fabric bag would not survive the handling.

Picking a color. Orange is the high-visibility default and matches the orange tourniquets inside. Red reads as emergency equipment and sits naturally beside an AED or fire cabinet. Yellow stands out against dark backstops and indoor range walls. Contents are identical in all three.

The organization is the working feature. Labeled removable pouches mean a range safety officer under stress pulls the pouch that matches the injury instead of emptying one compartment onto the ground. Two habits keep the kit working for years: check it monthly against the contents, and restock the same day it is opened.

The kit on the cover

The orange hard case on the cover of The Firearms Instructor's Medical Response Guide is this kit, and Appendix F names it as the off-the-shelf range station. The book explains how to stage a range medical station and keep it inspection-ready. Get the book ›  ·  Range medical hub ›
