The SA3100 is built using a proprietary hybrid construction that combines woven aramid layers — which manage initial impact energy and distribute force across the panel — with unidirectional (UD) aramid plies that halt projectile penetration. This multi-layer architecture delivers superior multi-hit performance compared to single-construction panels, maintaining structural integrity after repeated impacts. An areal density of 1.32 psf (6.44 kg/m²) reflects an efficient balance between protection and weight for side panels that must be worn comfortably throughout an extended operation or patrol shift.
Each panel is enclosed in a Sonobond-sealed ripstop water-resistant cover. Sonobond ultrasonic sealing creates a continuous moisture barrier at panel edges — eliminating the stitch holes that are common moisture ingress points in conventionally sewn covers — which is essential for armor that will be exposed to rain, sweat, and humidity over its five-year ballistic warranty period.

Size Selection Guide
Cummerbund panels are sized to match the cummerbund pocket dimensions of your plate carrier. The 5" width is consistent across all three options; length varies:
- 5"×7" — Fits shorter cummerbund pockets; suitable for smaller torso sizes or plate carriers with minimal side coverage area.
- 5"×9" — Standard cummerbund length for most medium-frame plate carriers. Provides coverage of the lateral kidney/liver zone.
- 5"×11" — Extended length for larger carriers or operators who need maximum lateral coverage. Compatible with Chase Tactical ACAP-RESCUE and CAP-RESCUE carriers as well as similarly dimensioned units.
