Sked® Basic Rescue System - International Orange

The high-visibility version of the Sked® flexible stretcher, in the International Orange used worldwide on life jackets, SAR aircraft and maritime safety equipment. Functionally identical to the standard system: flat it rolls into a Cordura backpack, wrapped around a packaged patient it rigidizes and slides through doorways, shafts and rubble where a rigid basket jams. Made in the USA.

Why is International Orange the preferred color for SAR Sked® systems?

International Orange (also known as SAR Orange or Safety Orange) is the globally standardized high-visibility color for search-and-rescue operations, used on life jackets, rescue aircraft, SAR equipment, and maritime safety gear. In open-water rescues, wilderness SAR, or disaster environments, an orange Sked® is immediately identifiable from a distance — both for responders locating the equipment and for aerial observers spotting packaged patients during helicopter operations.

Is the Orange Sked® functionally different from the Green version?

No. The International Orange Sked® (SK-200-OR) is functionally identical to the standard Green Sked® (SK-200). The same stretcher body dimensions, flexible plastic construction, rigidization properties, and complete accessory set are included. The only difference is the orange color of the SK-201-OR stretcher body versus the green SK-201 in the standard system.

Can the Orange Sked® be used for helicopter hoisting?

Yes. Like all SK-200 variants, the International Orange Sked® is equipped for horizontal hoisting by helicopter using the included SK-203 Horizontal Lift Slings and vertical hoisting in confined spaces using the SK-207 Vertical Lift Sling. The high-visibility orange color can actually improve aerial crew identification of the patient package during hoisting operations.

Is the Orange Sked® compatible with the SKEDCO Rapid Deployment System?

Yes. The SK-200-OR Orange stretcher is the base stretcher included in the SK-650 Rapid Deployment Water Rescue System, which adds CO2 inflatable float logs, inflatable chest pad, ballast weight, extra-long handles, and a rapid deployment carrying case for emergency deployment into water in under 30 seconds. The Rapid Deployment Conversion Kit is also available for those who already own a Sked® Basic Rescue System.
