Why does the SIRK™ Gen 2 include two C-A-T® tourniquets?

Military TCCC doctrine requires each warfighter to carry a minimum of two tourniquets — one for immediate self-application and a second as a backup or for buddy-aid. The SIRK™ Gen 2 is designed as a complete resupply package that meets this dual-tourniquet standard in a single unit. Both tourniquets are the genuine NAR C-A-T® (Combat Application Tourniquet®), which is the CoTCCC-recommended windlass tourniquet and the Official Tourniquet of the U.S. Army.

What is the difference between the Standard Kit and Standard Kit w/ARS Needle variants?

Both variants contain the same hemorrhage, airway, thoracic, and accessory supplies. The 'Standard Kit w/ARS Needle' (SKU 85-1899) adds a 14-gauge × 3.25-inch ARS® needle decompression kit for trained providers to perform needle chest decompression in cases of suspected tension pneumothorax. Purchase of the needle decompression variant should be made by, or under the direction of, a licensed medical professional or credentialed tactical medic.

Can the SIRK™ Gen 2 be used as a standalone IFAK fill kit?

Yes. While designed as a resupply package for existing IFAK pouches, the SIRK™ Gen 2 contents can be transferred into any empty IFAK pouch or bag for standalone carry. The vacuum-sealed packaging keeps all contents protected from the elements and allows visual inventory checks without breaking the seal. Its 7×5×2-inch footprint is compatible with most standard IFAK platforms.

Does the SIRK™ Gen 2 address all phases of the MARCH protocol?

Yes. The SIRK™ Gen 2 covers Massive Hemorrhage (two C-A-T® tourniquets, ChitoGauze® hemostatic dressing, Compressed Gauze, ETD™ dressing), Airway (28F nasopharyngeal airway), and Respiration (HyFin® Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack). Circulation is supported by the ETD™ pressure dressing. Hypothermia prevention supplies are not included but can be added to the carrying pouch separately.

Is ChitoGauze® CoTCCC-recommended?

Yes. ChitoGauze® (chitosan-impregnated hemostatic gauze) is a CoTCCC-recommended hemostatic dressing. The Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care recommends chitosan-based and kaolin-based hemostatic gauzes — including ChitoGauze® and Combat Gauze® — as first-line treatment for severe, life-threatening extremity and junctional hemorrhage that cannot be controlled with a tourniquet.

Does the SIRK Gen 2 include CoTCCC-recommended items?

What training is required to use a SIRK Gen 2-resupplied IFAK?

The same training required for the original IFAK applies. The SIRK Gen 2 resupplies the kit to standard without changing any component's skill requirements.
