Product Overview
The TACWrap™ Multi-Purpose Burn Cravat solves a longstanding logistical problem in austere trauma care: the need to carry separate items for burn dressing, triangular bandage, sling, and swathe functions. By combining these capabilities into a single sterile, vacuum-packaged unit, TACWrap™ reduces kit weight and complexity without sacrificing clinical utility.
Constructed from 100% spunbond polypropylene — a non-woven synthetic fabric that is non-adherent to damaged tissue — TACWrap™ will not stick to burn wounds during application or removal. This is a critical advantage over improvised fabric cravats or standard woven cotton bandages, which can adhere painfully to weeping burn surfaces. The spunbond polypropylene construction also provides a barrier function, protecting the wound from environmental contamination in field conditions.
The dressing material meets TCCC burn management guidelines established in November 2009, affirming its suitability for military Tactical Combat Casualty Care. Vacuum-sealed in a rugged 5 mil nylon poly barrier bag, TACWrap™ maintains sterility while offering a compact 4.6"×4.6"×0.5" footprint — small enough for any IFAK, medical pouch, or plate carrier accessory pocket. The included two #3 closed safety pins allow rapid securing of the cravat in sling-and-swathe or improvised bandage configurations.
Field Applications
- Dry burn dressing: Primary cover for large-area burns on torso, extremities, or back
- Triangular bandage: Arm sling for fractures, dislocations, or soft tissue injuries
- Swathe: Immobilization wrap for shoulder or upper extremity injuries
- Sterile field dressing: Improvised wound covering in austere environments
- Secondary bandage: Outer retention layer over primary wound dressings or hemostatic agents
- Improvised tourniquet padding: Soft tissue protection under rigid splinting
