Trauma Essentials Kit

A carrier and five treatment components covering wound packing, junctional pressure, and open chest wounds — assembled to ship internationally without brand-restricted items. Tourniquet and hemostatic agent are deliberately left to the buyer.

What this kit is. A six-piece IFAK build (SKU BNDL-IFAK-002) in a Berry Compliant TacMed™ Operator carrier. It covers the interventions most kits get wrong by omission — a dedicated junctional pressure bandage, purpose-built packing gauze, a vented chest seal, and the gloves and shears you actually need before touching a patient. It is a starting platform, not a finished loadout: no tourniquet and no hemostatic agent are included, by design.

Read This Before You Buy

No tourniquet. Tourniquet preference is the single most personal choice in a kit — C-A-T® Gen 7, SAM XT, SOF-T® all have committed users, and agencies standardize differently. The Operator carrier's external elastic gripper stages your own tourniquet on the outside of the pouch where it belongs, not buried inside it.

No hemostatic agent. The Ready Gauze™ in this kit is plain packing gauze — no clotting agent. Plain gauze packed correctly controls the majority of compressible hemorrhage. For high-risk junctional bleeding, add a hemostatic gauze as an upgrade; it layers directly over this build with no rework.

What's Included

TacMed™ Operator IFAK Medical Pouch ×1 — Berry Compliant, full-zip clamshell, MOLLE-compatible, external tourniquet gripper elastic
Ready Gauze™ Compact Z-Fold ×1 — sterile plain packing gauze, 4 in × 4.1 yd, preformed Ready Ball, Surgrip™ flat-pack
HEMGUARD® Targeted Pressure Bandage ×1 — 6 in width, 4-way anchoring, Popp Point Pressure™ targeted head
Sentinel™ Chest Seal ×1 — vented, dual-vent technology, 360° acrylate adhesive base
Nitrile Exam Gloves ×2 pairs — individually wrapped, powder-free, latex-free
Premium EMT Trauma Shears ×1 — 7.5 in, clothing, webbing and strap cutting

MARCH Coverage

M — Massive Hemorrhage Partial. Ready Gauze™ for packing, HEMGUARD® for junctional and stump pressure. Add your own tourniquet for arterial extremity bleeding.
A — Airway Not covered. Pair with a nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal airway.
R — Respiration Covered for open chest wounds. Sentinel™ vented seal. Add a second seal for an exit wound and a decompression needle if your scope allows.
C — Circulation Assessment only.
H — Hypothermia Not covered. Add an emergency blanket or hypothermia wrap.

Why These Components

Most entry-level IFAK builds put a pressure dressing and a chest seal in a bag and call the job done. The gaps show up at the junctional sites — neck, axilla, groin, and amputation stumps — where circumferential wrapping either cannot be achieved or creates constriction risk. The HEMGUARD® exists specifically for those sites: a targeted pressure head concentrates force onto the bleeding source while 4-way anchoring holds position without wrapping the limb or neck.

The Ready Gauze™ pairs with it. Wound packing depends on driving a dense leading mass of gauze down to the bleeding vessel, and forming that mass by hand is a fine-motor task performed with gloved, blood-slick hands under time pressure. The integrated Ready Ball ships that mass pre-formed — grip the ball, pull, and the gauze deploys behind it. One fewer step between opening the package and doing the thing that stops the bleeding.

The Sentinel™ addresses the failure mode common to vented seals: blood pooling in a single vent channel, silently converting a vented seal into an occlusive one. Its dual-vent design channels blood and air through separate pathways. The 360° acrylate adhesive is not water-based, so it does not swell or soften with sweat, rain, or blood contamination the way hydrogel can. It is a vented chest seal consistent with CoTCCC-recommended practice for open chest wounds.

Gloves and shears are in the kit because kits that omit them get opened in the field by a responder who then has neither. Two pairs, not one — gloves tear, and there is often more than one responder.

Operating Notes

  • If you add a tourniquet, apply it high and tight on the proximal third of the limb — never across a joint.
  • Do not pack open chest wounds. Penetrating thoracic trauma gets the chest seal; evisceration has its own pathway.
  • Plain gauze packing requires firm, continuous manual pressure until hemorrhage is controlled. Three minutes is a working floor, not a stopping point.
  • A single deep junctional wound routinely consumes a full pack of gauze. One unit per kit is a training assumption, not a field one — carry refills.
  • This kit is a platform, not a substitute for accredited hemorrhage-control training or local medical direction.

Recommended Upgrades

  • Tourniquet — required to close the M gap. Stage it on the pouch's external gripper elastic.
  • Hemostatic gauze — for high-risk junctional bleeding where plain packing may not be enough.
  • Second chest seal — entry and exit wounds each need one.
  • Airway adjunct — closes the A gap for an unresponsive casualty.
  • Hypothermia wrap — closes the H gap.
