This is a wearable training aid, not a medical device, and nothing in it is evidence-based standard — the trainer is inert, and the status of whichever real tourniquet a student practices with does not transfer to it. No tourniquet ships with this product; confirm the device your program trains on is compatible before ordering. The 19 in. bicep circumference is the trainer's own dimension, not a patient-fit range.

The teaching value is the failure mode it exposes. Students routinely stop tightening at the point where the strap feels snug, which is well short of arterial occlusion, and a static trainer lets that pass. Here the bleeding continues until placement and force are both right, so the standard enforces itself and the instructor spends the rep coaching instead of judging.

The padding is the reason a class can do this repeatedly. Trainers that pinch teach students to under-tighten to spare the volunteer — precisely the habit the drill is meant to break. Budget blood simulant as a recurring consumable, and plan a wash-down: the trainer cleans with water, the room does not.
