Sealed manufacturer package. The airway is lubricated inside it, so nothing needs preparing before use — but that also means the package protects the lubricant, and a package that has been opened, split or crushed in a bag should be replaced rather than carried.
No separate lubricant packet is supplied and none is needed. No oropharyngeal airway, no securing tape, no safety pin and no suction are included.
One size only: 28 Fr. If your kit standard calls for a different French size, or for a range of sizes, this is not the airway for it.

Is the VETRUN NPA the right size for most adult patients?

Yes. The VETRUN NPA is 28 French, which is the CoTCCC-recommended standard size for average adult male trauma patients. A 28 Fr NPA has an outer diameter of approximately 9.3 mm and a length of approximately 117 mm — appropriate for the vast majority of adult male patients. For smaller adults or females, a 24–26 Fr may be preferred. The 28 Fr remains the go-to single-size stocking recommendation for IFAKs intended for adult use.

Does the VETRUN NPA require a separate lubricant?

No. The VETRUN Pre-Lubricated Nasal Airway comes pre-lubricated, meaning no separate lubricant packet is required for insertion. Can the VETRUN NPA be used on a patient who is awake?

Yes. Nasopharyngeal airways are uniquely suited for conscious and semi-conscious patients because they do not trigger the gag reflex the way oropharyngeal airways do. The NPA is inserted through the nose and positioned in the nasopharynx, bypassing the gag-sensitive oropharyngeal area. This makes it the preferred airway adjunct for patients with an intact gag reflex, trismus, seizures, or altered consciousness.
