REVMEDX XSTAT™ P30 Hemostatic Device
High-Volume Hemorrhage Control for Deep, Life-Threatening Wounds
Overview
The REVMEDX XSTAT™ P30 represents a leap forward in battlefield-proven hemorrhage control, now available to advanced prehospital and tactical medical professionals. Designed for the rapid treatment of deep, high-volume bleeding in wounds not suitable for tourniquets, the XSTAT P30 is ideal for controlling junctional and non-compressible hemorrhages where traditional packing methods are ineffective or too slow.
Whether deployed in combat environments, mass casualty incidents, or tactical operations, the P30 offers immediate, internal wound tamponade using an expanding sponge technology that fills the wound cavity from the inside out. This device is a critical component for any advanced responder’s trauma toolkit and provides a life-saving option when seconds matter and external compression is impossible.
How It Works
The XSTAT P30 works by delivering dozens of compressed, medical-grade mini sponges into a wound cavity using a syringe-style applicator. Upon contact with blood, the sponges rapidly expand, creating internal pressure against the wound walls and blood vessels to stop bleeding from within. The tamponade effect is achieved within seconds, allowing the provider to quickly move on to the next casualty or prepare the patient for evacuation.
Unlike traditional gauze packing, which relies on time-consuming layering and manual compression, the XSTAT P30 automatically adapts to the wound geometry, effectively treating deeper and wider tract wounds. Each sponge is embedded with x-ray detectable elements, ensuring full accountability and safe removal in the surgical setting.
Product Features
High-Capacity Wound Tamponade:
The XSTAT P30 is engineered to manage larger wounds or wounds with significant internal cavities. It contains approximately 142 compressed sponges—more than its P12 counterpart—providing greater volumetric fill for high-volume bleeding scenarios.
Wider Applicator for Rapid Fill:
The P30 applicator has a 30mm diameter and delivers its payload with a smooth plunger mechanism. This larger applicator is ideal for gunshot wounds, blast injuries, or other deep wounds in the torso, pelvis, or junctional zones where space-filling pressure is critical.
Medical-Grade Expandable Sponges:
The cellulose-based mini sponges expand up to 10 times their size within 15–20 seconds of blood contact. They conform to irregular wound shapes and provide distributed pressure across the injury channel, even in complex wound paths.
Radiopaque and Surgically Trackable:
All sponges are impregnated with radiopaque markers, enabling x-ray identification and surgical retrieval to prevent retained foreign bodies. This meets hospital standards for wound cavity clearance post-surgery.
Sterile, Single-Use Applicator:
Each XSTAT P30 is delivered sterile, pre-loaded, and ready to deploy in the field. Packaging includes expiration dating and lot control for medical record compliance. Single-use design ensures maximum safety and simplicity under stress.
Minimal Training Curve:
The syringe-style applicator is intuitive to use under pressure, allowing for quick deployment even in low-light or high-adrenaline environments. Training with simulators is highly recommended but not overly complex.
Designed for Tactical and Operational Environments:
The XSTAT P30 was initially developed under U.S. military research contracts and is currently in use by special operations medics, combat lifesavers, and tactical EMS worldwide. It is now cleared and commercially available for civilian tactical medicine applications.
Indications for Use
- Deep penetrating gunshot or blast injuries
- Large-caliber entrance wounds with significant internal bleeding
- Junctional hemorrhage not responsive to tourniquets
- Traumatic injuries to the pelvis, buttocks, upper thigh, or torso
- Mass casualty events where fast hemorrhage control is needed
- Tactical or remote environments with delayed surgical access
Clinical Application
The XSTAT P30 is best suited for use by trained medical personnel in combat, tactical, or austere prehospital settings. This includes military medics, SWAT team TEMS providers, RTF (Rescue Task Force) responders, advanced paramedics, and disaster medicine professionals. The device offers a rapid, minimally invasive alternative to prolonged manual wound packing and is ideal for scenarios involving multiple casualties or active threats.
Its high-capacity sponge payload makes it appropriate for larger wounds and prolonged field care scenarios where the casualty may require extended stabilization prior to surgical intervention.
