TECC for Law Enforcement I Downed Officer Medical Survival Course
DOWNED OFFICER MEDICAL
SURVIVAL COURSE
The Downed Officer Medical Survival Course teaches the essentials required to provide self-aid and buddy-aid whilst in the midst of an ongoing larger tactical situation. Traditional First Aid courses are designed for controlled or controllable environments but are not realistic and actually can be dangerous if their approaches are utilized in environments with a proactive intelligent threat. By dispelling some of the assumptions of first aid dogma and applying environment and situation appropriate actions as well as skills and equipment to tactical environments, this course teaches officers how to save their own life or the life of their partner when the violence is turned against them and they have become a casualty.
The Downed Officer Medical Survival Course covers the various phases of Tactical Emergency Casualty Care, hemorrhage control (including tourniquets and wound packing), basic airway management, and tactical rescue concepts among many other essential topics.
The Downed Officer Medical Survival Course is an 8-hr live hands-on course that can be delivered on short notice to your officers at your agency. Officers will receive excellent instruction by folks who are professional medical providers utilizing a methodology that will bring numerous concepts and disciplines together in order to give the participants the knowledge, skills, and confidence to help save a life and complete the mission.
