Before you deploy it

Limb tourniquets go high and tight over clothing when the bleeding source can't be seen or there's no time (hasty), or on bare skin 2–3 in. above the wound once it is exposed (deliberate) — never across a joint. Note the time of application and leave it on for the receiving clinician.
The QuikClot 25 g clotting sponge is a pouch-style hemostatic for open wounds. It is not a packing gauze and is not evidence-based standard — for packing a deep or junctional wound, add QuikClot Combat Gauze or CELOX Rapid and hold direct pressure for at least three minutes.
The HyFin chest seal covers an open chest wound. Watch the casualty for worsening breathing after it is applied and burp the seal if pressure builds.
The nasopharyngeal airway is a provider-scope item — use it within your training and medical direction.

▾Is the tourniquet evidence-based standard?

Yes. The kit carries a North American Rescue C-A-T® Combat Application Tourniquet, a evidence-based standard limb tourniquet.

▾Is the QuikClot a packing gauze?

No. It is a 25 g QuikClot clotting sponge. For packing a deep or junctional wound, add QuikClot Combat Gauze or CELOX Rapid.

▾What is the difference from the Premium Trauma IFAK?

The Premium Trauma IFAK ships the same core load in a MOLLE pouch, with QuikClot 3″ × 24″ hemostatic gauze in place of the 25 g sponge.

No. This is a fill kit — it contains trauma medical supplies only and is designed to be inserted into an existing bag, pack, or IFAK pouch that you already own. If you need a complete IFAK with pouch included, MED-TAC offers the Premium Trauma IFAK (Lightning X LXPB15 pouch) and the Custom Trauma Kit (Lightning X LXPB35 pouch).
