READY WRAP™
A 4 in × 50 in compression and retention wrap in GRIP8™ high-stretch, high-grip thermoplastic elastomer. It holds by gripping its own surface under tension — no adhesive, no clips, no hooks — so it will not bond to a wound bed, to skin or to fur, and leaves no residue. Latex-free, powder-free, single-patient use, 10-year shelf life, FDA listed and CE marked. Made in the USA.
4 in × 50 inNon-adhesive · non-adherentStretchy to −40 °F (stated)10-year shelf life

This is the third rung of the escalation, not the last: direct pressure, then packing, then a compression wrap — and a tourniquet for arterial bleeding the preceding steps did not stop.

Role in care Compression and retention. Within MARCH it supports the M — Massive Hemorrhage step as an adjunct: it holds packing and dressings in place and applies sustained circumferential compression once bleeding is controlled
Tourniquet capability None. The READY WRAP™ has no printed stretch indicators and is not designed or marketed as a tourniquet. It does not substitute for a CoTCCC-recommended limb tourniquet, and it is not a hemostatic agent
CoTCCC status CoTCCC publishes no brand recommendation for compression wraps, and none attaches to this product

Scope of use, stated precisely. The correct escalation is direct pressure, then wound packing, then a pressure dressing or compression wrap, then a tourniquet for true arterial bleeding not controlled by the preceding steps. The READY WRAP™ performs at the third rung. Life-threatening extremity arterial haemorrhage gets a CoTCCC-recommended limb tourniquet applied high and tight on the proximal third of the limb, never across a joint.

Who Carries It

EMS and fire rescue · law enforcement patrol and SWAT · military and DoD medical — securing packing and dressings under movement, during prolonged field care and extended evacuation, where a dressing that migrates is a dressing no longer doing its job · K9 handlers and working-dog teams, veterinary field response, detection and SAR canine programs — tapered limbs shed a non-conforming wrap and fur defeats adhesive tape, so a non-adherent wrap that grips only against itself conforms to limb, paw, chest and tail base without shaving · Vehicle, cached and low-turnover agency kits, where the 10-year stated shelf life and the cold-weather specification matter more than they do in a kit cycled annually · Executive protection, range and training staff, workplace, school and home preparedness kits.

Applying compression is within the scope of bystander bleeding-control training and above. Handlers should carry this alongside — not instead of — a canine-appropriate tourniquet and hemostatic gauze, and the same logic applies to a human kit.

CLINICAL RATIONALE

Clinical Rationale - READY WRAP

Where it sits in the algorithm

  • Within MARCH, this device supports the M (Massive Hemorrhage) step as an adjunct. It maintains sustained circumferential compression and holds packing or a dressing in position after bleeding is controlled.
  • Escalation sequence: direct pressure, then wound packing, then pressure dressing or compression wrap, then a tourniquet for true arterial bleeding not controlled by the preceding steps. This product occupies the third rung.
  • It is not a tourniquet and makes no arterial occlusion claim. Life-threatening extremity arterial hemorrhage requires a CoTCCC-recommended limb tourniquet applied high and tight on the proximal third of the limb, never across a joint.
  • It is not a hemostatic agent and does not substitute for wound packing with hemostatic or plain gauze.

Why the material properties matter

  • Non-adherent surface means removal does not disturb a formed clot, strip fur from a working dog, or damage fragile skin. Adhesive-backed and cohesive-tape products fail on all three counts in different ways.
  • Retention failure is the practical problem this solves. A dressing that migrates during drag, carry, or self-extrication is no longer functioning, and re-dressing a wound during movement or in low light is a meaningful time and contamination cost.
  • Cold-weather stiffening is a real and under-tested failure mode for elastomeric wraps. The manufacturer states performance to -40F; treat that as a manufacturer specification, not independently validated performance data, and verify against your own operating environment.

Evidence tier and honest limits

  • Material, dimensional, cold-performance, and shelf-life figures are manufacturer specifications from the product packaging and manufacturer literature. Manufacturer claims are the lowest evidence tier and are not a substitute for trial data.
  • No published human trial data specific to this device is available at time of listing. That is not a mark against it for a retention and compression wrap, which is a mechanical function, but it should be stated plainly rather than papered over.
  • Relevant comparative context: Goolsby et al., JAMA Surgery 2019, tested 102 untrained laypeople across five devices and found elastic wrap-style devices succeeded at arterial occlusion far less often than windlass tourniquets. Evidence tier: human volunteer study, untrained-layperson cohort. This is precisely why compression wraps are not positioned as occlusion devices.

Training notes

  • There is no printed tension indicator. The provider judges compression, so rehearse the wrap on a limb trainer to calibrate feel before it matters.
  • Reassess distal circulation, sensation, and the wound after application and again after any patient movement.
  • Treat as a consumable. A wrap already stretched to tension and unrolled will not deliver equivalent controlled compression on a second application.
