Trauma Cap
An FDA-cleared, patented mechanical head bandage that replaces a hand holding pressure on a scalp laceration. Adjustable elastic straps with hook-and-loop fasteners deliver consistent circumferential compression over a gauze pad, with an optional chin strap for a moving or combative patient. One size fits most adults, 4 oz, latex-free.

Manual pressure on a scalp works — it just costs you a provider for as long as it lasts. A mechanical cap gives that provider back.

CoTCCC status Not CoTCCC-recommended, and the CoTCCC issues no recommendation for scalp compression devices as a class. It is a mechanical compression device used within the Massive Hemorrhage step, not a CoTCCC-listed product.

Application per the manufacturer: place a sterile gauze pad on the wound; position the cap with the elastic anchor point behind the head; draw the elastic bands forward until the anchor is firm against the back of the head and secure the hook-and-loop fasteners to the front; add the chin strap and any additional compression straps as needed; then monitor and adjust. Reproduced as the manufacturer states it — it does not replace training.

Who Carries It

EMS, fire and tactical/LE medics managing scalp lacerations, which bleed dramatically and tie up a provider under improvised wraps · Emergency departments and urgent care holding pressure while other injuries are worked · Industrial, event and remote-site responders where a head wound may be the whole call and staffing is thin.

Applying external compression to a scalp wound is within the scope of most trained responders. Head and facial trauma can accompany injuries — skull fracture, spinal injury, altered mental status — whose assessment and management are separate clinical decisions that this device does not address.
