The best bandage is the one that was actually on you. Volume is why people leave the good one at home.

VIEW ▾What's in the Package — one sterile dressing · vacuum-sealed flat
  • 1× TacMed™ Compact Trauma Bandage (CTB) — one integrated dressing: a 60 in. × 4 in. elastic compression wrap with a sterile 5.5 in. × 4 in. wound pad attached, flat-folded and vacuum-sealed into a 4 in. × 3.5 in. × 0.75 in. package
  • Printed instructions for use, in the packaging (manufacturer-stated)
  • Sterile, vacuum-sealed flat. Latex-free. 1.8 oz (51 g). Six-year shelf life from manufacture.
  • NOT INCLUDED: no hemostatic agent and no packing gauze. The CTB is a pressure dressing — a wound pad plus a compression wrap. If the wound needs packing, the packing material is a separate item you carry alongside it.
  • NOT INCLUDED: no occlusive sheet, no chest seal, no eye shield, no pressure cup. Those are features of TacMed's larger OLAES Modular Bandage, not of this one.
  • NOT INCLUDED: no tourniquet. This dressing is for moderate hemorrhage managed by direct pressure; it is not a substitute for a tourniquet on a life-threatening extremity bleed.

Dimensions, weight, sterility, latex status, shelf life and construction are as published by Tactical Medical Solutions. One thing is missing and is worth asking for: no SKU or part number is published on this listing, which makes reordering by number impossible. On CoTCCC status, be precise — the CTB is not a CoTCCC-recommended device, and the fact that it is produced at the same Anderson, SC facility as other TacMed products confers nothing. A manufacturer's facility is not a recommendation. The stated shelf life of six years runs from manufacture, not from purchase; check the date on the package when it arrives if you are stocking a cache. The wound-pad and wrap dimensions above describe the dressing, not an indication: which wounds this dressing is appropriate for, and when a tourniquet or wound packing is required instead, is a clinical decision governed by your training and protocol, not by a product page.

Who Carries It

Everyday-carry kit builders who want a real pressure dressing in a pocket or a slim belt pouch rather than a folded handful of adhesive bandages · Minimal IFAK and ankle-kit builders, where volume is the binding constraint and a flat vacuum pack stacks where a rolled bandage will not · Vehicle, glovebox and range-bag kits · Training programs and public-access bleeding-control stations stocking in quantity, where the six-year shelf life is what makes bulk stocking practical · Medics carrying a second dressing behind a primary OLAES or emergency bandage.

Buy this for what it is. It is a compression dressing with an integrated sterile pad — the right tool for moderate bleeding controlled by direct pressure, and the wrong tool for a junctional wound, a wound that needs packing, or an extremity bleed that needs a tourniquet. Pair it accordingly: the small kit that carries a CTB should also carry a tourniquet and something to pack with. Applying a pressure dressing correctly is a taught skill, and this page is not training — Stop the Bleed and equivalent bleeding-control courses are, and every one of them is worth more than the dressing.
