6:8 Medical Mini Trauma Bandage
A compact sterile pressure dressing for extremity hemorrhage in kits where volume is the limiting factor. An absorbent wound pad is permanently bonded to a 4 in. × 34 in. elastic compression wrap, so there is no separate gauze square to align under stress. Flat-fold, latex-free, roughly 2 oz, five-year shelf life.
4 in. × 34 in.Bonded pad and wrapApprox. 2 oz5-year shelf life

This is a purpose-built compact dressing, not a shrunken full-size one. Thirty-four inches of wrap suits a forearm or a lower leg; a large adult thigh needs a full-size 6 in. dressing.

What's Included

One dressing per package. The first accordion is what ships; the second is what this dressing deliberately is not, because that decides whether it belongs in your kit. Tap a section.

VIEW ▾What’s in the Package — one sterile dressing
  • 1× 6:8 Medical Solutions Mini Trauma Bandage (P/N MTB-01T) — sterile, single-use pressure dressing, individually packaged
  • Absorbent wound pad permanently bonded to a 4 in. × 34 in. (10 cm × 86 cm) elastic compression wrap — one piece, no separate gauze to align
  • Compact flat-fold packaging, approximately 2 oz (57 g). Latex-free. Five-year shelf life from date of manufacture.
VIEW ▾What This Is Not — read before ordering
  • Not a tourniquet, and no substitute for one on an arterial extremity bleed.
  • Not a hemostatic dressing — it contains no clotting agent.
  • Not packing gauze. A deep or cavitary wound is packed with gauze before this dressing goes over the packing.
  • Not a chest seal — it contains no occlusive layer.
  • Not sized for a large adult thigh. 34 in. of wrap suits a forearm, a lower leg or a smaller-circumference limb; carry a full-size 6 in. emergency trauma dressing for the rest.

Specifications are as published by 6:8 Medical Solutions. FDA registration and TAA compliance are manufacturer statements. A pressure dressing sits one rung up the external hemorrhage-control ladder from direct manual pressure: it converts pressure that a hand is holding into pressure the dressing holds. Where the bleed is a true arterial extremity bleed, the escalation is a tourniquet, and that decision belongs to a trained provider working under local protocol — not to a product page. A pressure dressing applied without adequate tension is a bandage, not a hemorrhage-control intervention.

Who Carries It

IFAK and bleeding-control kit builders where cube, not capability, is the binding constraint — ankle kits, EDC pouches, range bags, vehicle kits, jobsite stations · EMS, fire and law enforcement adding a second dressing to a kit that is already full · Providers who may work one-handed — the bonded single-piece construction is usable with cold hands, gloves, or on your own injury · B-CON Kit programmes holding refill and rotation stock.

Equipment does not substitute for training. Recognising life-threatening bleeding, packing a wound and applying a tourniquet are trained skills, and which one a given injury calls for is decided by trained providers within their scope of practice and under local protocol. This page describes the dressing, states exactly what ships, and states plainly what it is not.

CLINICAL RATIONALE

Where a compact pressure dressing sits in the hemorrhage control ladder

External hemorrhage control escalates: direct manual pressure first; convert to a pressure dressing when pressure is working but cannot be held by hand; escalate to a tourniquet for a true arterial extremity bleed that pressure and a pressure dressing will not control. A tourniquet goes high and tight on the proximal third of the limb and never across a joint. The ladder describes a decision sequence, not a mandatory delay - when the injury presents as an arterial bleed, go straight to the tourniquet.

Why the compact form factor is a clinical decision, not a compromise

Carry compliance is a clinical variable. Kits that exceed the volume a responder will actually wear get left in a vehicle, a locker, or a drawer. A dressing that fits an ankle kit or a pocket is available at the moment of injury; a full-size dressing in a bag two rooms away is not. The Mini Trauma Bandage buys that availability by narrowing scope - it does one job, in a package small enough to be present.

Known limitations you should plan around

The 34 in wrap length is matched to a forearm, lower leg, or smaller-circumference limb. It will not build a high-tension circumferential dressing around a large adult thigh - carry a full-size 6 in emergency trauma dressing for that. The product contains no packing gauze, no hemostatic agent, and no occlusive layer, so a deep or cavitary wound must be packed with separate gauze before this dressing is applied over the packing, and thoracic penetrating trauma requires a dedicated chest seal.

Framework note

Massive hemorrhage is the first priority under both TCCC and TECC, but the two are separate frameworks with different operational assumptions and they do not mirror each other. Apply the one your agency has adopted, and follow your own medical director protocols.
