Combat Eye Shield
A rigid aluminium fox eye shield bonded to a 6-inch hydrogel adhesive disc, so the shield bridges the orbit and the adhesive holds on the surrounding skin — no tape, and no pressure on the globe. Sterile, vacuum-sealed, 1.7 oz, and packed flat enough to sit in an IFAK without displacing haemorrhage-control items. A 4 × 4 in. gauze pad is included for surface prep.

Tape is the failure point on a periorbital wound. A large hydrogel disc holds where tape lets go — on skin that is bloody, burned or lacerated.

Specifications, patent number, NSN and the latex statement are as published by Safeguard Medical. The device is designed so that the rigid shield bridges the orbital rim and the hydrogel adheres to surrounding skin — no pressure is applied to the globe. Triage-priority categories that appeared in the legacy copy have been withdrawn; where penetrating eye injury falls in your assessment sequence is a protocol matter. This listing describes a device, not a protocol, and is not a substitute for accredited training.

Who Carries It

Combat medics and corpsmen operating where blast and fragmentation drive ocular injury · Tactical law enforcement and SWAT medics carrying eye protection alongside haemorrhage control · EMS and tactical EMS managing penetrating facial and orbital trauma during transport · Range, industrial and EOD safety teams where debris and fragment exposure is routine · IFAK builders adding ocular capability without displacing tourniquet, hemostatic or chest-seal space.

Under TCCC, haemorrhage control, airway management and chest-wound management take priority over eye injury; ocular coverage is applied once life threats are addressed and before or during evacuation. Apply within your scope of practice and local protocol. This page describes the device and reproduces what the manufacturer states about it; it is not a substitute for accredited training.
