It adds three capabilities to the standard Elite K9 kit — a K-9 tourniquet, a Beacon vented chest seal and Z-folded compressed gauze — on top of a full wound-care suite, in a MOLLE-compatible pouch.

K9-TECC guidance places massive hemorrhage control and airway maintenance at the point of injury, before veterinary evacuation. The tourniquet, chest seal and wound-packing components are intended for handlers trained to K9-TECC or an equivalent standard; this kit does not substitute for veterinary care.

The TACMED K-9 Tourniquet is designed specifically for canine extremity anatomy, which differs significantly from human limbs in diameter, fur coverage, and structure. Standard human tourniquets (such as the C-A-T Gen 7) are too large to achieve effective occlusion on many canine limbs. The K-9 tourniquet provides appropriate sized occlusion for distal limb hemorrhage control in working dogs — a capability identified in K9-TECC guidelines as important for managing penetrating limb injuries at the point of injury.

When would a working dog need a chest seal?

Penetrating chest trauma — from gunshots, knife wounds, or impalement injuries — can cause a tension pneumothorax, which is rapidly fatal if untreated. K9-TECC guidelines include chest seal application as a critical skill for handlers treating working dogs with thoracic wounds. The Beacon Vented Chest Seal in the Advanced kit allows accumulated air to escape while preventing outside air from entering the chest cavity, stabilizing the dog until veterinary evacuation is possible.
