PRODUCT INFORMATION
Safeguard Medical · IO Access Accessory Kit
Go IO Intraosseous Start Kit
The post-insertion half of intraosseous access. Six accessories in one sterile package — fixation dressing, sharps block, 90° extension set with three-way stopcock, securement strap, prep pads and a patient bracelet — dimensioned for NIO® hub geometry. The NIO device itself is sold separately.
SKU GO IO · 10 oz6 componentsNIO Adult / NIO PediatricDevice sold separately

Placing the needle is the part people train for. Securing it, connecting it and containing the sharp is the part that decides whether the line is still working an hour later.

What's Included

Six components, itemized by Safeguard Medical, plus what this kit deliberately does not contain. Tap to open.

VIEW ▾What's in the Package — six components · sterile · single-use · SKU GO IO
  • 1× NIO™ Fixation Securement Dressing — stabilizes the NIO device after insertion, resisting rotational movement and dislodgment during patient movement, CASEVAC or airway management
  • 1× NeedleVISE™ Sharps Safety Block — accepts and mechanically secures the needle tip after the device is removed, so it can go to a sharps container without direct needle contact
  • 1× IV extension set with 90° connector and three-way stopcock — converts the IO hub to a standard IV line port. The 90° geometry routes tubing parallel to the skin rather than standing proud of a hub that sits close to the bone surface; the stopcock gives multiple access ports through the same site.
  • 1× Secure IV strap — additional mechanical retention of the device and the tubing
  • 2× Alcohol prep pads — site preparation and device cleaning
  • 1× Patient bracelet — labels the IO access site with device and insertion information for handoff
  • NOT INCLUDED: The NIO® device. This is the accessory kit. NIO Adult™ and NIO Pediatric™ are separate purchases, and Safeguard recommends stocking the Go IO kit at a 1:1 ratio with them.
  • NOT INCLUDED: No needle, no IV administration set, no fluids, no medications, no pressure bag, no sharps container. The NeedleVISE contains a sharp; it does not replace a sharps container.
  • COMPATIBILITY: The fixation dressing, the sharps block and the 90° connector are dimensioned for NIO hub geometry. Safeguard states compatibility with the NIO Adult and NIO Pediatric. Compatibility with other IO devices — EZ-IO, FASTx, FAST1 — is not guaranteed, and the NIO Infant has a different hub geometry with its own fixation dressing supplied in its own packaging.

Manufacturer stocking guidance One Go IO kit per NIO device; Safeguard's IFU specifies it as the intended post-insertion accessory

Manufacturer, SKU, components, compatibility, weight and single-use status are as published by Safeguard Medical, as is the guidance to stock one kit per NIO device. Three specifications a purchaser would reasonably want are absent and should be requested: extension-set length and priming volume, latex content, and shelf life. On dwell time: The legacy copy carried a maximum IO dwell figure attributed to CoTCCC and PHTLS guidelines. That is a clinical parameter belonging to a guideline, not a specification of this accessory kit, and it has not been reproduced here — read it in the current guideline your service follows, not off a product page. What this page does state is what the bracelet is for: Recording insertion time, device and site so the next provider can see them. Intraosseous access is an invasive procedure performed only by trained and credentialed personnel under their scope of practice and local protocol. This page is product information, not a procedural how-to and not a substitute for accredited clinical training.

▾Who Carries It

Paramedics, flight and critical care transport crews credentialed for IO access, who need the line to survive a litter carry and a vehicle transfer · Combat medics and tactical medical providers already carrying a NIO, for whom this is the other half of the capability · Emergency departments and resuscitation rooms standardizing post-insertion setup so every IO looks the same to the next clinician · Prolonged field care providers, where the securement and the documented insertion time both matter more the longer the timeline runs · Training programs teaching the full IO sequence rather than stopping at the needle.

Intraosseous access is an invasive vascular procedure. Whether you may perform it is set by your licensure, your credentialing and your medical direction — not by owning the equipment, and not by this page. Two stocking points worth acting on: Buy this at one per NIO, because a NIO without it leaves you having placed a needle you cannot properly secure or connect; and check compatibility before you assume, since this kit is built to NIO hub geometry and the NIO Infant is not one of the devices it covers.
