What are the two flow rate settings on the LIFE SoftPac and when is each used?

The SoftPac delivers 6 LPM (NORM setting) — the FDA-required minimum flow rate for emergency oxygen delivery — or 12 LPM (HIGH setting) as recommended by the American Heart Association for high-flow supplemental oxygen during cardiac events. A single knob switches between rates. The 6 LPM setting is appropriate for supplemental oxygen to a breathing victim or post-resuscitation support; the 12 LPM setting is used for oxygen-enriched CPR mask delivery to a non-breathing victim and during active resuscitation.

How does the SoftPac complement an AED program?

Most public AED programs focus exclusively on defibrillation, but AHA resuscitation guidelines recommend supplemental oxygen as part of the cardiac arrest response chain. The SoftPac provides the oxygen delivery component that completes this protocol — covering the three key phases: pre-fibrillation support for a conscious victim with early symptoms; oxygen-enriched CPR during the resuscitation cycle; and post-defibrillation supplemental support after successful return of spontaneous circulation. The SoftPac is sized to co-locate with any AED, either wall-mounted or in a portable deployment bag.

How is the oxygen supply level checked without activating the unit?

The LIFE SoftPac features a constant-reading supply gauge visible through a window in the unit housing — the supply level can be read at any time without turning the unit on. This is a significant maintenance advantage: most portable oxygen units require activation to check cylinder pressure, which risks inadvertent gas consumption during routine compliance inspections. The always-visible gauge allows monthly status checks in seconds without any cylinder depletion.

What delivery accessories does the SoftPac support?

The SoftPac includes the LIFE-612 regulator and supports standard oxygen delivery accessories including non-rebreather mask, simple face mask, and bag-valve-mask (BVM) oxygen inlet adapter for oxygen-enriched CPR. The 12 LPM high-flow setting is specifically designed to support BVM-assisted ventilation, providing oxygen enrichment during the CPR cycle. Additional masks and delivery accessories are available separately for programs requiring complete oxygen delivery kit configurations.

Is the LIFE SoftPac wall-mountable alongside an AED cabinet?

Yes. The SoftPac includes a wall mount hook designed for co-location with AED wall cabinets and emergency safety stations. This mounting option allows facilities to create a complete cardiac arrest response station — AED + oxygen — in a single wall location, reducing the time responders spend locating and assembling equipment.
