The pads that ship installed are the adult SMART Pads; pediatric use requires the separately sold M5072A Infant/Child pads, which is what delivers the 50 J attenuated shock, and no page can substitute for Philips' own instructions for use on that. The device runs its own daily, weekly and monthly self-tests and chirps when something needs attention, which is the difference between an AED that is maintained and an AED that is merely mounted.

Deploy it inside a programme, not on its own: a mounted, signposted location people can name, a check routine that catches the chirp, tracked pad and battery expiry, a decision about whether the site needs pediatric pads, and responders who have at least handled the unit. An AED is for use by responders following the device's prompts after recognising cardiac arrest — coordinate the installation with your local EMS system.
