The distinction is regulatory: the Home model is FDA-cleared as a prescription device specifically for home use by individuals with a physician-identified cardiac risk factor, making it eligible for certain state-specific exemptions and health insurance programs.
Upon activation, the device guides the rescuer through pad placement using a visual diagram on the device, begins SMART Analysis of the cardiac rhythm, and advises shock only when a shockable rhythm is detected.
