The SAVe II+ delivers a tidal volume of 6 mL per kilogram of Ideal Body Weight (IBW), calculated automatically by selecting the patient's height from a preset scale of 4'3" to 6'3" in 3-inch increments. This results in delivered tidal volumes ranging from approximately 200–800 mL. The respiratory rate is programmable from 8 to 30 breaths per minute, with a fixed I:E ratio of 1:2. This AHA-compliant approach removes the need for manual calculation and reduces the risk of operator-induced hyperventilation or hypoventilation.

How long does the SAVe II+ battery last in the field?

The SAVe II+ battery provides 8.25–9.25 hours of continuous ventilation on a full charge, depending on battery capacity and settings. The device can also be powered directly from AC power (100–240 VAC / 50–60 Hz), allowing seamless transition from battery power during transport to facility power at a field hospital or treatment facility. Battery duration at the standard 5'9" preset at 10 BPM is approximately 8.25 hours with a 2600 mAh battery, or 9.25 hours with the 2800 mAh battery.

Does the SAVe II+ require compressed gas?

No. The SAVe II+ is fully self-contained and does not require a compressed gas source to operate. It delivers ambient air (room air at 21% FiO₂) using its internal turbine-driven pump. For supplemental oxygen delivery, it accepts a low-pressure oxygen input at up to 12 LPM from a flow-regulated source, enabling FiO₂ delivery from 21% to 100% — but the device functions safely without any oxygen supply when supplemental O₂ is unavailable.
