A provider-level trauma kit built on the Lightning X LXPB25 pouch, whose dual-zipper front panel lays completely flat in one pull — all ten elastic loops and four pockets exposed at once, with no single tab to fumble. Read the contents before buying: the ARS needle, suture set and Kelly hemostats in this kit are outside civilian first-aid scope.

CoTCCC status is component-level: the C-A-T® is a CoTCCC-recommended limb tourniquet and the HyFin® Vent is a vented seal consistent with CoTCCC guidance for open chest wounds. The hemostatic here is QuikClot® 3 in. × 24 in. clotting gauze — a shorter dressing with less packing capacity than Combat Gauze, and not CoTCCC-recommended.

▾Who Carries It

Paramedics, physicians, PAs, nurse practitioners and military medics credentialed to use needle decompression and wound-closure instruments under their own medical direction · Prolonged field care roles where evacuation is delayed and definitive treatment falls to the provider on scene, which is what the suture set and hemostats are there for · Tactical and remote-duty providers who want hemorrhage, chest, airway and closure capability in a pouch that opens in one motion.

Read this before buying. Three items in this kit sit outside the scope of civilian first aid: the 14-gauge ARS needle decompression device, the suture set and the Kelly hemostats. Needle decompression is invasive and can cause serious injury or death when performed on the wrong patient or at the wrong site, and field suturing of traumatic wounds is rarely appropriate. If you are a prepared civilian, range officer or security professional without that credentialing, choose a kit built around bleeding control instead — several carry stronger hemostatic components with nothing above your scope.

What trauma injuries does the Quick Access IFAK address?

The LXPB25-SKX is designed primarily for gunshot wounds and severe bleeding. It covers hemorrhage control (CAT tourniquet, QuikClot gauze, pressure bandage), penetrating chest trauma (HyFin Vent Chest Seals, ARS needle decompression), airway management (NPA), burns (burn dressing), and wound closure (suture set, hemostats). It addresses the TCCC framework of Massive Hemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, and Hypothermia.

What is the quick-drop panel and why does it matter?

The Lightning X LXPB25 pouch features a dual-zipper quick-drop front panel that when opened lays completely flat. This exposes all 10 elastic loops and four pockets simultaneously in one motion, eliminating the fumbling associated with traditional single-pull-tab IFAKs. Under stress with gloves on, this design significantly reduces time-to-treat.

Is the C-A-T tourniquet in the Quick Access IFAK CoTCCC-recommended?

Yes. The North American Rescue C-A-T® (Combat Application Tourniquet®) included in the kit is the CoTCCC-recommended limb tourniquet and the Official Tourniquet of the U.S. Army. It has been proven 100% effective at occluding arterial blood flow in both upper and lower extremities under U.S. Army ISR testing.

Can the LXPB25-SKX be mounted to a plate carrier?

Yes. The pouch features MOLLE webbing on all four sides and two rear retention straps, allowing attachment to any MOLLE-compatible plate carrier, vest, backpack, or belt. It is sized at 8"H × 5.5"W × 4"D — large enough for full kit contents but manageable enough for most platform configurations.

Does MED-TAC sell export versions of the Quick Access IFAK?
